In fact, Will Smith has taken this big step after the controversy that erupted after slapping host Chris Rock at the Oscar Awards show. In this regard, after sending his resignation last Friday afternoon, he again apologized publicly.
It is worth noting that at the recently held 94th Oscars 2022 Awards Ceremony, comedian Chris Rock made a big joke about the baldness of Will Smith’s wife, on which the actor slapped her in front of everyone on stage in anger. However, Will Smith later apologized for his actions.
Along with this, the apology name of Will Smith is viral on social media. In this, he has publicly stated that “I am now resigning from the membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will wholeheartedly accept any consequences the Board deems appropriate.” Along with this, he further wrote, “What I did during the 94th Academy Awards presentation was definitely shocking, painful and absolutely unforgiving. My actions were shocking, painful, and unforgivable. I have betrayed the trust of the Academy. I denied the other nominees and winners the opportunity to celebrate their extraordinary work. My heart is broken.”
Along with this, he wrote that “Change takes time and I am committed to working to make sure that I will never again allow violence to overtake logic.” Along with this, Will Smith on his social media “The list of people I have hurt is a long one and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, everyone in the household and the world’s global audience,” the statement said.
Academy president David Rubin said he had accepted Smith’s resignation, but the academy would continue with its disciplinary proceedings, which could lead to more sanctions.
