New Delhi: Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the auction of the 5G spectrum will be held around April-May 2022. He said that the first round of reforms took place with the relief measures announced in September 2021 for telecom companies. The central government will continue to reform even further. He expressed the hope that the telecom regulatory structure should be changed in the coming two to three years. He said that the regulation of India’s telecom sector has to be made according to the best global standards. So we will make many improvements to it.
Regarding the deadline for the 5G auction, the Union Minister said that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), which focuses on the auction structure, is discussing this issue. I think they will submit their report by mid-February 2022. At the most, the report should be received in March 2022. We will auction the spectrum immediately after receiving the report. Let us tell you that earlier the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had hoped to auction the 5G spectrum by the end of the financial year 2021-22.
What will the users benefit from the 5G network?
5G services may start soon after the spectrum auction in India. Earlier 2G and 3G services were used to run in India. Then with the introduction of the 4G network, there has been a lot of growth in internet speed. Cheap internet also started from then. Ultra HD quality video calling can also be done from 5G network. Also, strong connectivity will be available in smart devices. It is built for faster speeds than the existing 4G LTE technology.
5G network works on 4 technology
The 5G network supports four types of technology Non-standalone 5G (NSA-5G), Standalone 5G (SA-5G), Sub-6 GHz, and mmWave. In any region, through these four technologies, the 5G network is delivered to the devices of the users. Among these, NSA-5G is called the basic 5G network band. This spectrum is used for network testing. After this, the SA-5G network works on its own cloud-native network core. Then Sub-6 GHz is called mid-band 5G spectrum frequency. The fourth network mmWave is called High Band 5G Network Frequency.
