New Delhi: The Southwest Monsoon has regained momentum across India, bringing renewed rainfall to several states after a brief pause. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that these wet conditions will persist for the next few days and has issued alerts for heavy rainfall and strong winds. The 2025 monsoon season has been intense, and current conditions suggest a delayed withdrawal, possibly extending into October.

Delhi-NCR Weather
After experiencing rainfall on Thursday, Delhi-NCR is expected to have a generally cloudy sky on Friday, September 19. However, the chance of significant rain is low, and residents can expect a hot and humid day. The maximum temperature is predicted to be around 33-34°C, with a minimum of 24°C. Humidity levels will remain high, causing discomfort despite the cloud cover.
Heavy Rain in North India
The hilly states of North India are bearing the brunt of this monsoon spell.
- Uttarakhand: The IMD has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in districts including Dehradun, Pauri, Nainital, and Haridwar. The persistent downpour has led to the closure of schools in Dehradun as a safety measure.
- Himachal Pradesh: This state has also recorded very heavy rainfall, leading to cloudbursts, floods, and landslides that have caused significant destruction.
Monsoon in UP and Bihar
Many districts in Uttar Pradesh continue to experience rainfall, with thunderstorms predicted for parts of western UP. In Bihar, very heavy rainfall was recorded on September 18, and the IMD has issued a yellow alert for 32 districts, warning of thunderstorms and strong winds.
Northeast and South India Forecast
- Northeast India: States including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and others will see continuous rainfall until September 24. Heavy rainfall is particularly expected in Assam and Meghalaya around September 22.
- South India: Light to moderate rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh until September 21. Isolated places along the coast may experience heavy rain and thunderstorms.
