New Delhi: 5G In India: Finally the news has arrived, which people were waiting for a long time. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said in its official statement on Monday that metros and big cities including Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Pune will be the first to get 5G services next year. The government plans to conduct a spectrum auction for 5G in March-April 2022.
In September this year, DoT had sought recommendations from telecom sector regulator TRAI on the auction of spectrum, which mainly included reserve price, band plan, block size, the quantum of the spectrum, etc. TRAI on its part has started consultations with the stakeholders of the industry on this issue.
Where are companies doing testing?
It is worth noting that the 5G trial in India is going on for the last two years and till May 2022, the 5G trial will run in the country. The whole country is waiting for the commercial launch of 5G, but no official statement was given yet. Now in the cities which have been announced to get 5G service first, Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-idea are testing their 5G network. Telecom operators Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea have set up 5G testing sites in the cities of Gurugram, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, Gandhi Nagar.
