London: The High Court of London has allowed liquor businessman Vijay Mallya to take around £ 1.1 million from the court-held amount to meet his living and legal expenses. Judge Nigel Burnett of the Deputy Court of Bankruptcy and Company Affairs presided over the hearing regarding the withdrawal of money from the court fund office.
The hearing took place under the insolvency action being taken by Indian banks led by State Bank of India for non-payment of loans. The order allowed the former head of Kingfisher Airlines to withdraw money from the court to meet legal expenses in relation to his stay and opposition to the bankruptcy petition. Mallya is on bail in the UK and has lost another legal battle to extradite India to face fraud and money laundering charges.
