Washington, D.C.: In a significant move, U.S. officials revealed on Tuesday that the United States is gearing up to send a new military aid package worth $375 million to Ukraine. This substantial package is set to include medium-range cluster bombs, rockets, artillery, and military vehicles. Although the official announcement is yet to be made, it is expected to be unveiled during the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday.
Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the details of this aid package have not been publicly shared yet. This assistance comes at a crucial time as global leaders convene at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will be a major topic of discussion.
The new aid package aims to bolster Ukraine’s military capabilities with medium-range cluster bombs designed to target enemy forces and equipment over large areas. Additionally, the package will include rockets, artillery, and armored vehicles to enhance the offensive capabilities of the Ukrainian army in its ongoing struggle against Russian forces. This aid is tailored to meet Ukraine’s current needs, especially as it reorganizes its military and attempts to reclaim territories occupied by Russia.
According to U.S. officials, this latest package brings the total U.S. security assistance to Ukraine to over $56.2 billion since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
