New Delhi: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit India on July 27-28. This visit will be Blinken’s first visit to India as US Secretary of State. During his visit, he will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Blinken will also meet National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval during his two-day visit to India.
“Antony Blinken 26-29 to reaffirm and strengthen our partnership to promote peace, security, human dignity and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East regions,” US State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a tweet. I Will travel to New Delhi, India, and Kuwait City, Kuwait till July.
The main thrust of the visit is understood to be to lay the groundwork for a summit in Washington later this year in the physical presence of Quad group leaders. The quad includes India, Japan, Australia, and the US.
Blinken will be the second high-ranking official to visit India after the Biden administration came to power in January. US Defense Secretary Lloyd J Austin paid a three-day visit to India in March to further boost bilateral defense and security ties.
