New York: The Trump Administration has appointed two political members to the United States as part of an effort to control the information being released by America’s top public health agency about the Corona Virus epidemic.
Indeed, President Donald Trump’s administration wants to make publicly known positive figures and information about control over the epidemic. These two appointments were made in June at the Atlanta headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which have no background in public health. He is assigned to oversee the agency’s director, Dr. Robert Redfield and the scientists.
About half a dozen officials of CDC and administration gave this information. An administrative official said that these appointments were made in the agency after some leaked information about Kovid-19 was disturbed.
However, his role remains a mystery to senior CDC personnel. Sources said one of these, Nina Witkofsky, has been made the Acting Chief of Staff, an influential role as the right-hand man of Redfield. At the same time, another officer attends his deputy, Trey Moiler scientific meetings.
According to federal election records, Witkofsky played a small role in Trump’s campaign during the last presidential election. She was a program director for George W. Bush’s presidential campaign in 2000. He was initially appointed as Senior Advisor to Redfield. According to conversations with several CDC officials, it is not clear to what extent the two appointments are affecting the work of the agency.
However, investigators in the US Parliament have been investigating the subject after finding evidence of increasing political interference in CDC scientific publications, guideline documents and web posts. The White House has declined to comment on the subject. At the same time, a CDC spokesperson has confirmed that Witkofsky and Moiler, working at the agency, are reporting to Redfield. But did not give more information.
“I am working for Dr. Redfield who is 100 percent committed to scientists and to the thousands of dedicated employees of the CDC,” Moeller told the news agency AP in an email.
The CDC had been the public face of the American response during the Ebola-like epidemic. He gave consultations with scientific basis. The agency played a similar role in the start of the Kovid-19 pandemic, but in February it came under question after it came to know of a malfunction in the virus investigation.
Then, at the end of February, a top infectious disease specialist at the CDC, Dr. Nancy Mesonier, caused trouble for the Trump administration by speaking out loud about the dangers of the virus at a press conference, while the President was not paying attention to it.
In May, a series of leaks and scientific documents were obtained by the news agency AP, which detailed how the White House communicated about the removal of sanctions during the outbreak of the epidemic. The CDC’s broad guidelines were suppressed. According to current and former officials, the administration, resentful of the media reports about this, started afresh efforts to crack down on the CDC.
