New Delhi: A monumental spiritual journey, the Ram Mandir Rath Yatra, is set to commence in the United States on Monday. Embarking from the vibrant city of Chicago, this sacred expedition will traverse over a thousand miles in 60 days, connecting a network of 851 temples across 48 states. This grand event is orchestrated by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA).
A Chariot for the Divine: Amitabh Mittal, the General Secretary of VHPA, unveiled that a specially designed chariot, crafted from a Toyota Sienna van, will carry the revered idols of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Laxman, and Hanuman. Accompanying these deities will be a special prasad and a sanctified urn of Akshat, originating from the hallowed grounds of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
An International Route: The yatra is not confined to American soil as it will extend its reach to Canadian temples. Setting off on March 25, the chariot will embark on its extensive journey, aiming to grace 851 American temples and an additional 150 Canadian shrines. The Canadian leg of the yatra is managed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of Canada.
Enlightening the Masses: Tejal Shah from the Hindu Temple Empowerment Council (HMEC) expressed that the yatra’s core mission is to enlighten, educate, and empower individuals about the Hindu faith. This pilgrimage offers a unique opportunity for Hindus to come together in solidarity. Shah emphasized the significance of uniting the Hindu diaspora and future generations in a collective effort to foster awareness and propagate Hinduism globally.
Culmination on a Sacred Day: The yatra is scheduled to reach its conclusion on April 23, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti, a day revered for celebrating Lord Hanuman’s birth. Amitabh Mittal noted the overwhelming support from the community in planning and executing the yatra through VHPA. This marks a historic first for the Hindu community in America, uniting to organize such a widespread and spiritually significant event.
