Kolkata: These days the threat of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus remains in the country and the world. In India too, it has spread to about 6 states. Along with this, new cases of coronavirus (Covid 19) are also increasing in some states. According to the data released on Sunday, 583 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in West Bengal in 24 hours. In the same period, 6 people have died in the state. After this, the number of active cases of coronavirus in West Bengal has increased to 7548.
According to the State Health Department, 19,600 Covid-19 deaths and 16,23,191 cases have been reported in West Bengal so far. In the last 24 hours, 591 patients of Covid 19 were discharged in the state, which has increased to 15,96,043 with a rate of 98.33 percent. In the latest cases, Kolkata has recorded the highest number of 217. North 24 Parganas stood second with 108 cases.
North 24 Parganas had the highest number of deaths on Sunday, followed by two deaths in Kolkata. In view of the new version of Covid, Omicron, the state government has said that the Covid positive report of all international travelers will be sent for genome sequencing. Some samples have been sent for strain tests.
On the other hand, one case of Omicron, a new form of coronavirus, has been confirmed in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Chandigarh on Sunday. The first case of this new form of the virus has been reported in all three places. Apart from this, after getting one more Omicron patient each in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the number of such cases in the country has increased to 38. In all the cases reported on Sunday, the patients had traveled abroad.
