New Delhi: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains of Phase III and IV, postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held from July 20-25 and July 27 to August 2, respectively. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank made this announcement on Tuesday.

The third and fourth phases of JEE Mains, which were to be held in April and May for admission to institutions like IITs, NITs, were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nishank told through the digital medium, “The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for the third and fourth stages of JEE Mains will be held from July 20-25 and July 27 to August 2, respectively.”

He informed that this time the number of examination centers has been doubled so that the COVID guidelines can be followed. The result of these two phases of examination can be released in August. It is noteworthy that the National Examination Agency had postponed the JEE (Mains) April and May session examinations due to Covid-19. From this year JEE Mains exam is being conducted four times a year.

The entrance exam for the first session was conducted in February and the second session in March. The JEE Advanced exam has also been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Students who qualify for JEE Mains are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced.

For admission to IITs, one needs to qualify in IIT (Advanced) with either a minimum of 75 percent marks in class 12th or a rank in the top 20 percentile in the entrance examination. In view of the Covid-19 epidemic, the eligibility for marks in class 12 has been relaxed.
