New Delhi: The Supreme Court has closed a case of sexual abuse conspiracy against former Chief Justice of India and current Rajya Sabha member Justice Ranjan Gogoi. A bench of three judges of the Supreme Court said that the case is being closed due to the passing of many days. The Supreme Court had asked the former Justice AK Patnaik Committee to investigate the conspiracy. The committee said that it has not investigated the sexual abuse case because the Supreme Court had already given a clean chit to Justice Gogoi.
The court said that it cannot be denied as far as the conspiracy is concerned because some people were not happy that Justice Gogoi had taken many difficult decisions including NRC in Assam. Therefore, there may be an attempt to discredit them. The IB report has been cited for this. However, today the Supreme Court closed the case.

The Supreme Court held that the AK Patnaik panel could not obtain electronic records such as WhatsApp messages to investigate the conspiracy to implicate former Chief Justice of India Gogoi. The court said that two years have passed and the possibility of obtaining electronic records in the investigation of conspiracy to implicate Gogoi is very less.
