New Delhi: After the removal of Rahul Gandhi’s membership in a defamation case, there is a political stir. Meanwhile, the big news is also coming out about Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut. Action can be taken against Sanjay Raut regarding the notice on the proposal of breach of privilege. A proposal for a breach of privilege against Sanjay Raut is being sent to the Rajya Sabha. On Saturday, Maharashtra Legislative Council’s Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe described Sanjay Raut’s reply on the breach of privilege notice as ‘unsatisfactory’. It has been sent to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
In fact, a breach of privilege notice was issued last month against Sanjay Raut for calling the Legislature a ‘chor mandali’. After the statement, Sanjay Raut said in his clarification that he had made such remarks only for the Shinde faction. Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has prima facie found Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut guilty of a breach of privilege motion. There is a gang of thieves in the Legislature, and after such a remark, a proposal for violation was made against him.
Proposal sent to Rajya Sabha Secretariat
Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar said in the Assembly that Raut’s explanation on the privilege notice was not satisfactory. He said, “I think there is a breach of privilege in his statement, but as per the rule, it has been sent to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat as Raut is a member of the Rajya Sabha.” Deputy Speaker Neelam Gorhe said in the Legislative Council that Sanjay Raut in his reply has raised questions on the impartiality and functioning of the Privileges Committee of the House. So I do not fully agree with his answer and I do not find it satisfactory. For this reason, I am sending the breach of privilege notice to the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha for appropriate action.
This is how the dispute started
Significantly, Sanjay Raut had given a controversial statement regarding the Legislature during a discussion with the media on March 1 during his visit to Kolhapur. He had said that this is not a Legislature, but a ‘thieves circle’. After this, MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar demanded to bring a proposal of breach of privilege against him. He was accused of insulting the Maharashtra Legislature, the Chief Minister, and other ministers. The same day a notice of breach of privilege was sent against Raut.
