New Delhi: Today was a very important day for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The 1983 World Cup champion bowler Roger Binny took over as the new chairman of the board. Former captain Sourav Ganguly’s tenure ended on 18 October (Tuesday). Binny hinted at major changes as soon as he took over the reins of BCCI. First of all, he said to pay attention to two things.
Roger Binny was announced as the new Board President at the 91st Annual General Meeting of the BCCI in Mumbai on Tuesday. There was no other candidate for this post. He was unanimously elected the new president. 67-year-old Roger will now take over this responsibility in place of Sourav Ganguly.
ANI. Speaking to TOI, Binny said, “As BCCI President, I would like to focus on two things first. The first thing would be how to control the injury to the players. Jasprit Bumrah was injured just before the T20 World Cup. This one thing greatly affected the entire plan of the Indian team. The second thing would be that I would like to pay attention to the pitches that are prepared in the country.
Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly wished Roger Binny on assuming the responsibility of the post. He said that Indian cricket is in absolutely right hands. Indian cricket is very strong and I would like to wish them all the very best
While playing for India, Roger gave a match-winning performance in the 1983 World Cup. He was the highest wicket-taker not only in India but in the tournament. Roger took 18 wickets in 8 matches.
