New Delhi: The Chhattisgarh government has got a big relief from the Supreme Court in the matter of implementing 58% reservation in government jobs and educational institutions. The Supreme Court has lifted the ban on this reservation. Along with this, instructions have been given to start the recruitment and promotion process immediately.
In fact, before this, the Chhattisgarh High Court had banned the state government’s decision to increase the scope of the reservation to 58%, calling it unconstitutional. However, the Supreme Court has reversed the order of the High Court. In such a situation, after the decision of the Supreme Court, now the problem in recruitment will also go away.
In the year 2012, the Government of Chhattisgarh made a provision to give reservations to 32 percent of Scheduled Tribes, 12 percent of Scheduled Castes, and 14 percent to Other Backward Castes while increasing the scope of reservation. However, the Chhattisgarh High Court, in its order on 19 February, termed 58% reservation in state educational institutions and government jobs as unconstitutional.
Many recruitments are stuck in Chhattisgarh regarding this reservation quota. In such a situation, after the order of the Supreme Court, the Advocate General of the Government of Chhattisgarh said, the removal of the ban imposed by the High Court is a big step and now the stuck recruitment and promotion process in the state can be started immediately.
