Washington: US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held phone talks on Monday and set an ambitious format to take bilateral relations to new heights. The two leaders agreed to jointly compete with Covid-19 and pledged to redesign the mutual partnership on climate change (US Strategic Partnership). Biden and Modi also agreed to rebuild the global economy and face the threat of global terrorism together for the benefit of the people of both countries. The White House gave this information.
Giving details of the talks, the White House said that the two leaders agreed to continue close cooperation to promote free trade in the Indian Pacific region. This includes freedom of navigation, territorial integrity, and the creation of strong regional infrastructure through the ‘Quad’. During the talks, Biden underlined his resolve to protect democratic institutions around the world and said that a shared commitment to democratic values is the cornerstone of Indo-US relations. It added, “In addition, the two leaders emphasized that democratic process and law should be followed in Burma. The two leaders agreed to continue the process of dialogue on several global issues and to take forward the relationship between India and the United States in the times to come. ”
After the phone conversation between Biden and Modi, India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu told PTI, “We have an ambitious agenda for cooperation and in the coming days you will see things happening.”. ” Sandhu said, “We are committed to taking forward the India-US strategic partnership. Along with this, we are committed to working closely with like-minded countries to tackle regional and global challenges such as COVID-19, improving economy, clean energy, and climate change, combating terrorism, cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. . ” This was the second conversation between Biden and Modi over the phone after the US presidential election on November 3. Sandhu said that in recent times, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had talked to their American counterparts which were very good and far-reaching.
