Islamabad: Pakistan’s newly appointed army chief General Asim Munir on Saturday said that if his country is attacked, the Pakistani armed forces will “not only defend every inch of our motherland but also give a befitting reply to the enemy country”. .
On Saturday, Munir visited the Line of Control (LoC) for the first time after taking over as the Pakistan Army chief. During this, he met Pakistani soldiers deployed in Rakhchikri sector.
Munir said, “We have recently heard highly irresponsible statements by the Indian leadership on Gilgit Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir. I want to make it clear that Pakistan Armed Forces are always ready not only to defend every inch of our motherland but also to give a befitting reply to the enemy if we are attacked.
Gen Munir had replaced Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on 24 November. Bajwa retired after serving two terms of three years each as the Pakistan Army chief. During the visit to the border areas, General Munir was apprised of the latest situation along the Line of Control and the operational preparedness of the Pakistan Army.
General Munir complimented the Pakistani soldiers and officers for performing their duties under challenging conditions, displaying high morale and professionalism.
