Washington: In America, more people are dying every day from the Omicron variant than the delta variant of the coronavirus, while the number of dead in the next few days or weeks. The number is expected to increase.

The seven-day average death toll in the US has been increasing since mid-November. It reached 2,267 on Thursday and crossed the 2,100 mark in September when the delta pattern was at its peak.

Andrew Noymer, a public health professor at the University of California, Irvine, said Omicron could cost us millions of lives. It should be discussed what we can do differently and how many lives we can save. In the US, 8,78,000 people have died due to Covid-19 and it is at the top in terms of the number of dead.

Omicron symptoms are often milder, and some infected people show no symptoms, researchers agree. But like the flu, it can be deadly, especially for people who are older, have other health problems or who are unvaccinated.
