New Delhi: The new US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin is visiting India on March 19 for the first time on a three-day visit. During the visit, he will meet with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. It is believed that apart from China, important issues of regional security can be discussed in both meetings. Austin will meet with many of the nation’s senior leaders and military officials during his visit.
After the recently concluded meeting of the heads of the quad countries, this visit to Austin is considered to be very important. Quoting government sources, the news agency ANI has told that the meeting of US Defense Minister and NSA Doval may be held on Friday. During this period, apart from regional security, the issue of China may remain prominent.
A strict message was given to China during a quad meet
Significantly, during the quad meet, a strong message was sent to China in gestures by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden. Prime Minister Modi said we are united by our democratic values and our commitment to an independent, open, and inclusive India-Pacific. Our agenda today – covering areas such as vaccines, climate change, and emerging technologies. Apart from this, the leaders of the four countries gave a message to keep the Indian Pacific region ‘free and open.
In fact, even before this meeting, China had realized that its ill-mannered behavior could be targeted. Remind that China has said before this meeting that countries should discuss mutual issues and not target any third party while meeting among themselves.
