Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti have been placed under house arrest by the administration till further orders. Mufti is at his residence in Srinagar. The administration has not yet commented on the reasons for the detention. Mehbooba Mufti has recently raised questions regarding the Hyderpora encounter in Srinagar. After this encounter, there is a situation of tension. In fact, on November 15, two terrorists were killed by security forces in Hyderpora. According to the police, two civilians – Altaf Bhat and Mudassir Gul – were killed during this period.

Inspector-General of Police (Kashmir range) Vijay Kumar claimed that Gul was a close aide of the terrorists and was running a call center in the premises owned by Bhat. This illegal call center was the hideout of the terrorist. Mehbooba Mufti has demanded a judicial inquiry into the same matter.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned Mehbooba Mufti’s brother Tassaduq Hussain Mufti for questioning in a money laundering case. Tassaduq has been asked to appear before the investigating officer of the case here on Thursday and record his statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), officials said.

He said the probe is related to some money allegedly received in their accounts from some businesses in Kashmir. The ED has also questioned Mehbooba Mufti in another money laundering case.
