Mumbai: Mumbai Police will now use technical solutions to ensure transparency in its recruitment process. Magnetic belts to measure chest size and high heels with sensors to keep feet firmly on the ground may be included during the physical exam later this month. Explain that more than 7 lakh applicants are going to participate in the physical and written examination for more than 8,000 posts of constable and driver constable. This process is likely to take months.
As per the Indian Express report, the recruitment drive is going on across the state, but Mumbai is going to be the first state to adopt technological solutions. The exercise will be monitored by Joint Commissioner (Administration) S Jayakumar and DCP (HQ-II) Tejashwi Satpute. To ensure minimum human intervention, the devices to be employed this year include magnetic belts, sensor heels, radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, prism sticks and many photos.
Why would magnetic tape be used?
Explaining about the magnetic tape, a police officer said that, chest measurement often proves to be important for recruitment. People’s dreams are often shattered by a difference of a few inches. With a normal measuring tape, there is room for error. Measurements depend on how tight or lose the tape is, so the magnetic tape will be more accurate. There will be no possibility of error here.
Height sensor shoes
While measuring height, applicants often stand on their toes. Raise your heels in such a way that you may fail to catch their cheating, so now sensor heels will be placed. Now the height of the applicants can also be measured with accuracy. At the same time, the police will continue to use RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags to measure the speed of applicants during the run. Runners will be given RFID tags, which will measure distance and time and feed the information to a computer. Men have to participate in two races, one is 1,600 meters and the other is 100 meters dash and shot-put, while women have to participate in 800 meters and 100 meters in addition to shot put.

Prism stick will be used for shot put
The official said that a prism stick will be used to measure the distance of the throw for the shot put. There will be a sensor in the prism, through which the database will be created. The recruitment process consists of two rounds – A physical Test, followed by a Written Test. Mumbai Police has to reduce the list of 7.03 lakh applicants to 80,700 for the written test.
