Washington: Indian-American political consultant Neera Tanden, nominated by President Joe Biden, as its budget director, will be heard on February 9 next week for confirmation of this position. A committee of the Senate announced this on Tuesday.

If the Senate confirms the appointment of Tandon (50), she will be the first black and Indian-American to head the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This office oversees the implementation of the US President’s vision in various executive branches.

OMB’s mission is specifically to help the President achieve policy, budget, management, and regulatory goals, and to meet statutory obligations of agencies.
