Congress in the middle of the vortex
Congress says that when AJL, which published Herald, faced financial problems, it was Congress who saved it as it believed too much in its historical legacy. Apart from this, Congress also says that AJL will continue to be the owner, printer, and publisher of the National Herald and there has been no change or transfer of assets. In the meantime, however, the digital version of the National Herald was relaunched in 2016. But now Congress along with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is also on the margins regarding the ownership of its assets and shares.

Know the whole matter
It is to be known that, to talk about this matter, Congress had given a huge loan of about 90 crores to AJL, the company that published the National Herald newspaper established in the year 1937, to get out of the loss. Later, in lieu of this loan, AJL gave 99% of its shares to the ‘Young Indian’ company.

According to reports, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi now hold 38-38% shares in ‘Young Indian Company’. In the same case, the money received by the ED in the account of ‘Young Indian’, including the shares of AJL received by ‘Young Indian’, is also being intensively investigated. On the other hand, on Tuesday, under the same case, the ED had conducted intensive raids at 16 locations of the National Herald including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
