Mumbai: Munawwar Farooqui has been declared the winner of the lock-up after battling for basic needs for 70 days. Payal Rohatgi, Anjali Arora, Azam Falah, and Shivam Sharma were also finalists in Kangana Ranaut’s show. Along with the trophy, Munawar also received prize money of Rs 20 lakh and a new car.
Unlike most reality shows, it chose its winner not only on the basis of votes. The host was given the opportunity to have the last word. Munavvar got the most votes, but Kangana also chose him as the final winner.
Before entering the show, Munawwar told the media that the lock-up would push him out of his comfort zone. However, when we asked him what did he do to pick a show that could spark controversy, he replied, “First of all, I don’t think there is anything wrong in being controversial. It only means that people haven’t heard your side of the story, or that you may have been taken out of context. I never wanted to be a part of controversies. I never went and asked the media to make some ruckus (uproar) with my statement. I immediately removed the part of my video that offended people. It was the public that drove it for almost a year and made it news. I never wanted to be controversial, he made me one.’
