Mumbai: The level of pollution in Mumbai is continuously increasing. Mumbai’s air was worse than Delhi for the second consecutive day. On Friday, the air quality level in Mumbai was recorded at 317. There was 352 AQI in Coloba, south of the metropolis. It is considered very bad. An IMD official said that Bandra Kurla Complex, AQI of 346, Malad 338, and Andheri 333 were registered.
There was light rain in Mumbai on Friday morning, after which there was light breeze throughout the day. A senior Met department official said that this happened due to western disturbances and strong waves. At this time both weather systems are strong and deep. He said, ‘There is a cloud formation at this time from coastal Karnataka and Goa to the Konkan region. It has reached central Maharashtra. There is also a possibility of thunderstorm and rain on Saturday or Sunday.
Panvel, Taloja, Nawade, Kharghar are the areas where the air quality is continuously deteriorating. Last month too, AQI’s rank had crossed 200 in these areas. Now once again the air here is becoming poisonous.
Explain that due to rain and strong winds, the level of air pollution in the major cities of the National Capital Region – Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad has reduced significantly. Due to better air quality, most cities of NCR have reached the ‘Green Zone’. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) pollution index app ‘Sameer’, two days ago, the air quality index was recorded in Greater Noida at 134, 136 in Noida and 122 in Ghaziabad.
