New Delhi: Derogatory comments on Hindu deities and incidents of tampering with their photos are seen every day. Now the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has shared the derogatory photo of Maa Kali, the deity of Hindus, on its official Twitter. However, it was deleted after growing controversy. Maa Kali is shown in the skirt form in this photo.
A plume of smoke is visible on one side of the photo shared by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Twitter. Whereas, in the second photo Maa Kali is visible amidst the clouds of smoke. The puff of smoke is shown as the skirt of Maa Kali. In the photo, his tongue is out and there is a garland of skulls around his neck. Maa Kali’s hair is also seen flying strangely.
This photo was shared by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with the caption ‘Work of Art’. After protests on social media, the Ministry of Defense deleted the tweet. After such a picture of Maa Kali surfaced, social media users got agitated and are demanding an apology from Ukraine for this act.
A social media user named Chandan Sharma wrote, “Coward Ukraine ran away after deleting its tweet. In protesting against the tweet, if the people of Ukraine can run away after deleting the post insulting Maa Kali, then understand how much status they have to stand in front of Russia and fight the war. Cowardly Ukraine, cowardly Zelensky, and cowardly Ukrainian army.”
By making fun of Kali Mata’s picture in this way, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has committed a big crime and we strongly oppose it.
Tagging External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, social media user Ashwini Srivastava wrote, “This is an insult to Maa Kali. This is an insult to 1.4 billion people. India should send a strong message to Ukraine.”
