Beijing: Millions of people took to the streets to celebrate National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival on Thursday as soon as the holiday season started in China. This is the first major holiday season in China after Wuhan and the rest of the country were affected by Covid-19 in January this year. An official holiday of eight days has been announced to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the formation of the People’s Republic of China.

It is noteworthy that this is the second largest holiday for the people of China. During this time, millions of people travel abroad and visit their relatives and tourist places in the country. Restrictions on domestic travel have been lifted after gaining control of Covid-19. However, China is not yet open for international travel.

Meanwhile, China’s National Health Commission said on Thursday that 11 Kovid-19 patients have been confirmed to have arrived from abroad. As of Wednesday, a total of 85,414 cases of Covid-19 were reported on the Chinese mainland, including 186 patients. According to the commission, 80,594 patients have been discharged from the hospital after treatment while 4,634 patients have died so far.

National Day celebrations began with the flag hoisting at the Jian on Main Chowk. According to the news of the official news agency Xinhua, China hopes that the economy will also be revived during the ‘Golden Week’ holiday, which has been badly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
