New Delhi: The MG Comet EV was launched in India in late April and the carmaker has now commenced the deliveries of its ultra-compact electric hatchback. The bookings for the MG Comet EV began on May 15 with a token amount of Rs 11,000. At the same time, the company has started delivery in select cities from May 22. The talking MG Comet EV is equipped with a 17.3kWh battery pack. With this battery, it gives a driving range of 230 km on a full charge. The company has used a rear-axle-mounted electric motor in it, which gives it 42PS of power and 110Nm of peak torque. The electric car supports 3.3kW AC charging, which takes seven hours to charge the battery from 0-100 percent, and five hours to charge it from 10-80 percent. The company claims that the cost of charging it in a month is just Rs 500.
MG Comet EV: Features
MG has positioned the Comet as a city-centric city mobility solution rather than just a conventional entry-level EV. Many great features have been given in this small electric car, which also includes a 10.25-inch screen setup, manual AC, steering-mounted controls, and connected car technology. The car gets dual front airbags, electronic stability control, a rear parking camera with dynamic guidelines, and rear parking sensors to ensure the safety of the passengers.
MG Comet EV: Price and Variants
The Comet EV is being sold in three variants – Pace, Play, and Plush, priced between Rs 7.98 lakh and Rs 9.98 lakh respectively. This price is for the first 5,000 customers. Although the MG EV does not have any direct rivals in India, it does offer an affordable alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3.
