Karachi: At least nine children were killed and 20 others injured in a fire that broke out in a village in Dadu district in Pakistan’s Sindh province. Due to the fire, the houses turned to ashes and the cattle were burnt. According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place due to a fire in the kitchen of a hut in Faiz Mohammad Daryani Chandio village at 9 pm on Monday night.

Due to the scorching heat, the fire took a formidable form in no time, destroying all 50 houses in the village, and seriously injuring at least 20 people. More than 160 animals were also killed in this fire. The villagers alleged that despite repeated calls, even after 12 hours, no one from the fire department reached out to control the fire.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Thursday that an investigation was being conducted to find out the slow response of fire officials and vowed to punish those responsible for the incident. Promised compensation to the villagers who lost the cattle.
