Tirupati: A doctor and his two children were killed when a fire broke out at a private hospital in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district at 4:30 am on Sunday. According to the primary investigation, the fire in the hospital was caused by a short circuit. The doctor and his family lived in the hospital itself, when the fire broke out, the family was in a deep sleep.
Fire officials said the doctor’s house was turned into a gas chamber after the fire broke out. Because of this the doctor fainted, and could not come out. At the same time, the children died due to the filling of carbon monoxide (a poisonous gas) in their bodies.
The doctor ran to escape the fire, but fainted
The fire broke out in the building of Kartikeya Hospital in Tirupati. In this three-floor building, the clinic of Dr. Ravi Shankar Reddy was on the ground floor. His family lived on the upper two floors. His family was in deep sleep when the fire broke out.
Dr. Reddy was on the third floor of the building. After the fire, he tried to come to the floor below, but due to the gas filled in the house, he fainted and came into the grip of the fire. By the time firefighters arrived, he had stopped breathing.
Children died during treatment
After this, the fire brigade reached inside the house by breaking the door and taking out his 9-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy who was sleeping in the room and referred him to the hospital. But both of them died during treatment due to the excessive amount of carbon monoxide gas that filled in their body.
Mother and wife rescued
According to fire brigade personnel, the entire house was packed with furniture and other items. The windows and doors were also closed, due to which the fire spread, and the whole house was filled with smoke.
