Bhavuneshwar: The Konark Sun Temple in the Puri district of Odisha was opened for the public on Monday. The temple was closed for more than a hundred days due to the deadly second wave of coronavirus. Official sources gave this information.
To visit this historic 13th-century temple, people will have to undergo thermal screening and it is mandatory to wear a mask. According to the guidelines, only two thousand people are allowed to visit the temple in a day.
As per the provisions, people will have to book tickets online and scan the same with mobile phones at the main entrance. Local guides, photographs, etc. are not allowed in the temple premises.
The state government had asked for its unlock process in August that district administrations may allow the opening of religious places and tourist areas in view of the pandemic situation at the local level. Apart from this, the government had allowed people to visit the beaches of Puri, Chandipur in Balasore, and Chandrabhaga in Konark.
Sources said that the district administration has given permission to open special temples from August 3, while the decision regarding the opening of the world-famous Shri Jagannath temple in Puri will be taken on August 4.
