Karnataka High Court dismissed the petition of the girl students, saying – Hijab is not necessary for Islam

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court, which has completed the hearing in the Hijab Case, on Tuesday dismissed all the petitions filed against the Hijab Ban. The High Court has said that wearing a hijab is not mandatory in Islam. The High Court has said during this time that students cannot refuse to wear school uniforms. At the same time, the High Court has made it clear that no case is made out for invalidating the government order of 5 February. After the decision of the High Court, it is believed that after analyzing the decision, the girl students can approach the Supreme Court.

BJP leader and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi have welcomed the Karnataka High Court’s decision on the Hijab controversy. He said, ‘I welcome the decision of the court. I appeal to all to maintain peace and order. The basic function of a student is to study. So leave all these matters aside and study and stay united.

A full bench of High Court Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit, and Justice JM Kazi was constituted to hear the petition of the girls of Udupi. All these girls had urged the High Court to allow them to wear hijab along with school uniform in classes. He had said that it is part of his religious faith.

On the other hand, in view of the High Court’s decision, on Tuesday, Section 144 has been implemented in many districts of the state for security. Section 144 is also applicable in Bangalore. Also, security has been beefed up outside the residence of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi.

A group of girl students of a pre-university college in Udupi, demanding to be allowed to wear the hijab in their classes, sparked a major controversy when some Hindu students arrived wearing saffron shawls. The issue spread to other parts of the state while the government stuck to the uniform rule.
