New Delhi: As part of his visit to India for the G20 Summit, US President Joe Biden arrived in New Delhi on Friday (September 8) and was welcomed by Gen (Retd) VK Singh, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation. He is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, where they may discuss issues such as Ukraine, emerging technologies, and defense deals.
On Saturday, President Biden will join Prime Minister Modi for an official event, followed by several meetings with other G20 leaders. He will also pay his respects at the Raj Ghat Memorial along with the G20 leaders before departing for Hanoi in Vietnam.
The G20 Summit, hosted by India as the current chair, will occur in the national capital on September 9 and 10. The summit will focus on global topics such as inclusive growth, digital innovation, climate resilience, and equitable health access.
At the end of the summit, Prime Minister Modi will hand over the presidency to President Lula of Brazil, who will formally assume it on December 1.
The G20 comprises 19 countries and the European Union (EU), representing about 85 percent of the global GDP, more than 75 percent of the worldwide trade, and nearly two-thirds of the world population. The members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK and US.
