Washington: US President Joe Biden announced a series of official actions to tackle the problem of gun violence in the US by organizing a general program at the White House. Biden described the problem as “an epidemic and an international embarrassment.” However, the President said that much more needs to be done in this regard.
But while Biden proposed a highly ambitious gun-control agenda as the presidential candidate of any modern era, his moves underscored his limited powers to act alone on guns, where tough politics would take place on Capitol Hill (Parliament ) On legislative action.
Biden’s new steps include taking action on home-made guns that are difficult to detect due to the lack of serial numbers and which are often purchased without investigation. Apart from this, he has also tried to make the rules strict on pistol stabilizing objects with which the gun can be fired with one hand.
These Presidential steps fulfill a pledge taken last month that he said were immediate “common practical steps” to be taken to combat gun violence.

He pledged to deal with it after the issue was discussed afresh due to frequent firing incidents in the US. A day before his announcement, five people were killed in a shootout in South Carolina.
