Mathura: Like every year in Brij, the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna will be celebrated with full pomp. Most of the temples have arranged online darshan for the devotees. Kanhaiya will be inaugurated at the midnight on Wednesday, August 12 in almost all the temples including Thakur Dwarikadhish in Mathura and Thakur Dwarkadhish in Vrindavan and Thakur Bankebihari of Vrindavan. However, there are three temples of Vrindavan where the consecration will take place in the day itself. It is believed that Mother Yashoda does not like to wake up his son at night by anointing him.

According to this belief, Sri Krishna Janmashtami is traditionally celebrated in the day in the temple of Vrindavan, Shri Radhadamodar, Sri Radharaman, and Sri Radharaman. In the day itself, Thakur Ji’s Abhishek and Aarti takes place. Purnachandra Goswami, secretary of Sri Radhadamodar Temple told, “At one time, Shri Jeeva Goswami was responsible for serving the Sapta Devlalayas. Thakurji’s service used to take time when the temple was more.

So he started serving Janmashtami in Sri Radhadamodar, Sri Radharaman and Sri Radhagokulananda temple during the day and the rest in the night. The tradition started by him continues even today. ” Sumit Goswami, the sevayat of the SriRadharaman temple, said, “In Sri Radharaman temple, the date is considered according to the sunrise. This year Janmashtami will be celebrated on August 12 from 8.30 am to 11.30 am. ” Due to Kovid-19 this year, the religious ritual will be shown online at Vrindavan’s Sri Radharaman, Sri Radhadamodar, Sri Radhavallabh Temple on Janmashtami along with Sri Krishna’s Birthplace Temple in Mathura online via YouTube and Facebook.
