Washington: Former US President Donald Trump’s adviser Steve Bannon has been arrested in a fraud case. He and three others are accused of cheating the donors of We Build the Wall, a scheme to raise money online. The indictment included charges in Manhattan federal court.

Federal prosecutors alleged that Bannon and three others “hatched a conspiracy to defraud hundreds of thousands of donors” as part of an online campaign to build a wall on America’s southern border. A sum of $ 25 million was raised under this campaign. No one answered the call made to Bannon’s lawyer’s office Thursday morning. A Bannon spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The donation amount will be used in the project
According to the allegation, Bannon had promised that 100 percent of the donated money would be used for this project, but he spent thousands of dollars out of this amount that did not match the organization’s public representation promises. The indictment stated that they created fake bills and hidden the real expenses in many other ways.
