London: The ongoing battle for the post of Prime Minister in Britain has reached a crucial stage. Former British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss have made it to the final stage of the leading competition to replace British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The news agency Reuters has given this information.
At the same time, Penny Mordant, who was involved in this race, was out of the competition on Wednesday. Rishi Sunak was leading the race with 137 votes, while Truss got 113 votes and Mordant got 105 votes from Conservative MPs.
Earlier, in the fourth round of voting among Conservative leaders, Sunak also topped. He secured a maximum of 118 votes. At the same time, Sunak defeated his rivals in three rounds of voting. With each round of voting, the number of votes in favor of Sunak is increasing continuously. If he becomes the Prime Minister of Britain, then he will be the first PM of Indian origin.
