5 Indian students killed in road accident in Toronto, Canada

Toronto: On Saturday, 5 Indian students were killed in an auto accident near the city of Toronto in Canada. Two others are injured in the accident and have been admitted to the hospital. The Consulate General of India team in Toronto is in touch with friends of the victims for assistance. Ajay Bisaria, High Commissioner of India to Canada has given this information.

The deceased have been identified as Harpreet Singh, Jaspinder Singh, Karanpal Singh, Mohit Chauhan, and Pawan Kumar. Their age was between 21 and 24 years. Police say that all of them were students from the Greater Toronto and Montreal areas. They were traveling west in a passenger van on the highway. The tractor-trailer collided with each other at around 3:45 is on Saturday morning.

Police say two other seriously injured passengers were taken to hospital after the accident but did not provide an update on their condition. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. No charges have been filed in this case so far.
