Indore: The Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore has officially launched the ‘Digiyatra’ facility today, marking a significant advancement in airport technology and passenger convenience. After several days of successful trials, the system is now fully operational.

What is Digiyatra?
‘Digiyatra’ is an advanced technology initiative designed to enhance security and streamline the airport entry process. Utilizing facial recognition technology, this system ensures a contactless and paperless experience for passengers, significantly reducing the time spent at various checkpoints.

Positive Feedback from Trials
During the trial phase, an average of 15 out of every 100 passengers opted to use the ‘Digiyatra’ system. According to an airport official, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with passengers appreciating the ease and efficiency of the new system.

Nationwide Rollout
The ‘Digiyatra’ system was initially launched by Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu during a program in Visakhapatnam. It has since been introduced at eight other airports across the country, including Indore. The local inauguration was attended by Indore’s Lok Sabha MP Shankar Lalwani.

How Does It Work?
Indore Airport Director Vipinkant Seth explained that the ‘Digiyatra’ system allows passengers to enter the airport within just five seconds by scanning their faces at the entry gate. This eliminates the need for manual checks of identity cards and tickets, which can be time-consuming. Currently, the airport handles a daily passenger movement of 4,500 to 5,000, and the ‘Digiyatra’ facility is available for domestic departures.
