New York: Indian-origin professor Neeli Bendapudi has been made the president of Pennsylvania State University in the US. The educational institution announced this on Thursday. The special thing is that she will be the first woman and non-white president of this university. Currently, she is serving as the 18th President and Professor at the University of Louisville, Kentucky. Bendapudi is a well-known name in the field of higher education and has expertise in Marketing and Consumer Behavior.

On December 9, Bendapudi was unanimously appointed as the next president of Penn State by the Penn State Board of Trustees, according to a statement released on the website by Pennsylvania State University. By assuming this post in the year 2022, she will create history by being the first woman president. In a career spanning almost 3 decades in the education world, she has served in many important positions.

“Penn State is a world-class university and I couldn’t be more proud and excited to join this community of amazing students, faculty, staff, and alumni,” she said, adding, “Thanks to the Penn State community and board of trustees.” I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and will make it my mission to take Penn State to new heights across all our campuses.

Bendapudi’s wires are connected to Visakhapatnam. She came to America in the year 1986 for studies. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and an MBA degree from Andhra University in India and a doctorate from the University of Kansas. She was married to Dr. Venkata Bendapudi. Dr. Bendapudi was a teacher at Ohio State University and is now retired.

Bendapudi served as provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of Kansas in Lawrence from 2016 to 2018 and as dean at the KU School of Business between 2011 and 2016. She has also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Customs Officer at Huntington National Bank.
