Washington: Prominent Indian-American leader Nikki Haley on Tuesday launched her campaign for the presidency. In this way, she has become the first Republican to challenge former US President Donald Trump to become her party’s nominee for the White House in 2024. Haley (51) has been a two-time governor of South Carolina and the US ambassador to the United Nations.
He said, “It is time for a new generation of leadership to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border, and strengthen our country, our pride and our purpose.”
She describes herself as the proud daughter of Indian immigrants. Haley talks about growing up in Bamberg, South Carolina and shaping her belief in a strong and proud America. “We have turned away from the fear of God and the values that still make our country the freest and greatest in the world,” he said. We should turn in that direction again.”
Haley has been hinting at running for the White House for weeks, positioning herself as a younger and fresher alternative to Trump. Her formal announcement means she will be the first contender to compete against her former boss, 76-year-old Trump.
