Mumbai: Udaipur, the lake city of Rajasthan, known for hosting destination weddings, is all set to witness another lavish wedding of a politician and a Bollywood star. AAP MP Raghav Chadha and actress Parineeti Chopra will tie the knot at The Leela Palace Hotel in Udaipur on September 24 in a grand ceremony. The wedding will have a unique twist, as Raghav Chadha will arrive at the venue on a boat with his groomsmen, instead of the usual car or horse.
According to reports, Raghav Chadha will have his Sehra Bandi, a ritual where the groom wears a floral headgear, at Hotel Taj on September 24. After that, he will board the famous Gangaur boat of Udaipur, which will be decorated with Mewari culture motifs, and sail across Lake Pichola to reach The Leela Palace Hotel, where Parineeti Chopra and her family will be waiting for him. The Gangaur boat is a traditional wooden boat that is used for carrying idols of Goddess Gauri during the Gangaur festival. This will be the first time that a celebrity groom will use the Gangaur boat for his wedding procession.
Raghav Chadha and Parineeti Chopra’s families will stay in separate hotels before the wedding. Parineeti Chopra and her family will stay at The Leela Palace Hotel, where all the wedding functions, such as Mehendi, Sangeet, and Haldi, will take place. Raghav Chadha’s family will stay at Hotel Taj, which is also located on the banks of Lake Pichola. Both the families will reach Udaipur by the evening of September 22 and 23.
The wedding menu will feature Punjabi cuisine, as both Raghav Chadha and Parineeti Chopra belong to Punjabi families. Several renowned chefs have been invited to prepare the dishes for the guests. The guests will also be welcomed in Mewari style with the Ghoomar dance, a folk dance of Rajasthan. The most expensive Maharaja Suite of The Leela Palace Hotel has been booked for the wedding night, which costs around Rs 10 lakh per day. The suite is spread over 3,500 square feet and has a private pool, jacuzzi, spa, and balcony.

The Leela Palace Hotel is considered one of the most luxurious properties in Udaipur, offering a splendid view of the hills and Lake Pichola. The hotel is built in the style of a palace, with marble floors, Tikri art, and hand carvings. Almost all rooms in the hotel offer a panoramic view of the lake. The hotel also overlooks the Taj Palace, City Palace, and Aravalli Hills.
The second ODI of the series between India and Australia will be played in Kolkata on September 26. Raghav Chadha and Parineeti Chopra are expected to attend the match as part of their honeymoon trip.
