Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday launched a ‘Nabanna campaign’ against the Mamata Banerjee Trinamool government in West Bengal. During this, clashes also took place between party workers and the West Bengal Police at many places. At the same time, activists set a police vehicle on fire in the middle of this march in Kolkata. Not only this, but the workers also pelted stones at the police in Howrah.

It is noteworthy that the police have detained BJP state chief Sukanta Majumdar in the state capital amid the ‘Nabanna Chalo’ protests against the ongoing state government. During this, he said, ‘The CM is scared, seeing the strength of the people gathered here, he has run away. Today only 30% are here, some of the rest were taken into custody the previous day itself.

Demonstrations at various places in Bengal
Earlier, today BJP workers also staged a massive protest outside the Secretariat in Kolkata. During this, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari, and Locket Chatterjee was taken into custody by the police. At the same time, the police also used water and tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. Through this campaign, demonstrations have been organized by the BJP in Bengal.

March not allowed
BJP has launched ‘Nabanna Abhiyan’ against the alleged corruption of the TMC government of Bengal. BJP supporters from across the state started reaching Kolkata and Howrah on Tuesday morning to join the campaign. Police had detained several BJP workers for preventing them from going to Kolkata to take part in the Nabanna Chalo campaign. Significantly, despite the West Bengal Police not giving permission to the BJP for the Naban Chalo campaign, the BJP did this march.
