New Delhi: Ishika Gupta, a final year BTech student from Delhi, has achieved a rare feat by scoring 99.99 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023, one of the most competitive exams for admission to top management institutes in India. She is the only female candidate to have reached this level of excellence in the exam, which saw over 2 lakh aspirants this year.

Ishika, who is pursuing her degree in Mathematics and Computing from Netaji Subhas University of Technology Delhi, says she is elated by her performance but also wishes to see more women excel in the exam. “While I feel great, I would also like to see more female candidates scoring high in the exam,” she says.

She attributes her success to her early and consistent preparation, which started in October 2022, during her summer vacations. She says she decided to appear for CAT 2023 to enhance her business skills, which would complement her technical and analytical skills acquired from her engineering background. “My degree is in mathematics and computing, I have studied both but now I realise I also need to learn about skills from a business perspective. It will help expand my skillset and further help grow my career.

She also credits her family for their support and encouragement. Her father is a software engineer and her mother is a teacher. Ishika completed her schooling at Maxford School Dwarka and Delhi Public School, Dwarka.
