New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Central Government announced several new beneficial schemes worth more than three lakh 70 thousand crore rupees for the farmers. These schemes were approved today in the meeting of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Union Cabinet. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave this information.

Addressing a press conference, he said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved a total outlay of Rs 3.70 lakh crore for farmers. The package has various components that focus on the well-being and economic betterment of farmers by promoting sustainable agriculture.

Along with this, the government has increased the fair and remunerative price of sugarcane by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 315 per quintal for the 2023-24 sugar season. The Union Cabinet also approved the introduction of the National Research Foundation (NRF) Bill 2023 in Parliament. This would pave the way for the establishment of the National Research Foundation (NRF).

The Cabinet also approved a new scheme ‘PM-PRANAM’ to encourage states to promote alternative fertilizers and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. Also, decided to continue the existing urea subsidy scheme till March 2025 with an outlay of Rs 3.68 lakh crore.

The Union Minister said the cabinet has approved the Urea Subsidy Scheme to ensure continuous availability of urea to farmers at a flat price of ₹ 242/45 kg bag excluding taxes and neem coating charges. Out of the above-approved package, Rs 3,68,676.7 crore is for urea subsidy for three years (2022-23 to 2024-25).

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the Union Cabinet’s decision to extend the urea subsidy scheme for three years and increase the fair and remunerative price of sugarcane by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 315 per quintal for the 2023-24 sugar season. Said on Wednesday that farmers across the country would be benefited by this.

PM Modi said in a tweet, ‘Our government is constantly striving for the prosperity and prosperity of the farmer brothers and sisters across the country. In this direction, we have extended the urea subsidy scheme for three more years. Along with this, many other programs related to the welfare of food providers including PM-Pranam have also been started.

In another tweet, he said, ‘Our government is committed to adding sweetness to the lives of sugarcane farmers. In this episode, the price of sugarcane has been increased to Rs 315 per quintal for the year 2023-24, which is its highest ever. Crores of our sugarcane farmer brothers and sisters across the country will be benefited by this.
