New Delhi: In a digital meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Chief Ministers of seven states on Wednesday said that NEET and JEE took for admission in medical and engineering colleges in view of the situation of coronavirus epidemic (JEE) examinations should be postponed. At the meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee also said that states should approach the Supreme Court to stop these examinations. However, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the Chief Ministers should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demand to postpone the examinations before going to court.
In this meeting on the issue related to the demand for GST compensation, Mamta Banerjee said that all the state governments are requested to go to the Supreme Court to postpone these examinations till the situation becomes normal. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also endorsed this and said that the Corona cases may increase in September, how can such examinations be conducted?
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked that how is it possible to take examinations when the corona is spreading and the crisis has increased? Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel (Bhupesh Baghel) and Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayansamy (V Narayansami) also lobbied to postpone these examinations.
Significantly, the officials of the Ministry of Education said on Tuesday that the Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) will be conducted in September as per the schedule.
