Mumbai: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) on Thursday announced that the ’22nd IIFA Weekend and Awards’ will now be held on May 20 and 21, 2022. The ceremony was earlier to be held in March. In a statement, IIFA said that the dates have been extended keeping in mind the changed circumstances due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus globally and the health and safety of fans and the general public.
“We are responsible and committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and fans traveling from around the world to participate in the IIFA celebrations and experience the magic of IIFA,” the statement read. “We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience (due to the postponement of the ceremony) and hope that all concerned will understand the sensitivity of the situation.” The award ceremony will be held at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
