POONCH In a brazen attack, terrorists ambushed an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Five IAF personnel were injured in the exchange of fire, with one airman succumbing to his injuries later.

The attack unfolded near Shashidhar in the evening as the IAF convoy was traveling towards Sanai Top in the Surankote area. The terrorists opened fire on the vehicles, sparking a fierce gunfight. IAF personnel bravely retaliated, but five airmen were unfortunately wounded.

All injured personnel were rushed to the nearest military hospital for treatment. Tragically, one airman succumbed to his injuries despite medical intervention. The identities of the martyred soldier and injured personnel are being withheld out of respect for their families.

Swift Action and Search Launched

Following the attack, the Indian Air Force released a statement confirming the incident and the ongoing response. Local security forces, including the Rashtriya Rifles unit, have cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation to apprehend the terrorists.

Officials informed that additional army and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel have been deployed to assist in the search. The Garud Special Force, the elite combat unit of the IAF, has also been mobilized to the area.
