New Delhi: The ban imposed by the Modi government on the popular media-playing software VLC Media Player has been lifted. The option to download it is once again available to the users.

The ban on multimedia players has been lifted by the Ministry of Electronics and IT. The ban on the VLC media player website was lifted on 14 November. Earlier this year, the central government banned the website of VLC Media Player, saying it was communicating with servers of already banned software and transferring user information to other countries.

The Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) has told that now this ban has been lifted. The official Twitter handle of VLC Media Player has also tweeted that the ban has been lifted. ITF claims that it has given legal aid to the company after the ban in India. Now you can download the latest version of VLC Media Player by visiting the official website of Videolan.
