
New Delhi: The central government has blocked 14 mobile messenger apps. These messenger apps were being used in terrorist activities. Terrorists were using these mobile messenger apps. The terrorists used to get messages from Pakistan through these apps.
Apps that have been banned by the Government of India include Crypviser, Enigma, Safeswiss, Wickrme, Mediafire, Briar, BChat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second line, Zangi, Threema to name a few.
According to reports, terrorists were using these messenger apps to send messages to their associates in Jammu and Kashmir. This has been confirmed in the reports of many investigative agencies of the country, after which the government has banned these apps. According to reports, these apps were being used by terrorists in Kashmir for messaging and chatting with their supporters and on-ground workers (OGWs).
The developers of these apps are not in India, nor are these apps being operated from India. The offices of the companies developing these apps are also not in India. The companies of the apps could not be contacted for seeking information as per Indian laws.

These apps are designed in such a way that they cannot be tracked. Apart from this, it is also difficult to trace the developers of these apps. The Ministry of Home Affairs through various agencies found that these mobile apps help terrorists and their associates to engage in activities.
